Raku..
Raku pottery is an ancient Japanese art where pots and sculptures
are quickly fired in a specially designed open-air kiln, producing
magical, lustrous colours and crackled effects.
The molten pots are plucked from the kiln with long metal tongs
to be plunged into a series of sawdust and water where, with a hiss,
the pot cools, leaving the potter with the final excitement of washing
the soot from the pot to reveal jeweled colours and fiery patterns
within the glaze.
